Privacy Policy
Last Updated May 17, 2026
Cephas is built to be quiet: no account, no ads, no tracking, and no data brokers. And no celebrities. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Cephas app handles, why it is handled, and the choices available to you.
Information Cephas Handles
Cephas does not require you to create an account. The app may store reading progress, read Moment identifiers, last-read timestamps, free-trial flags for paid reading supplements, and purchase entitlement status so the app can remember where you are and what you have unlocked.
Reading progress and free-trial flags are stored through Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Store when iCloud is available on your device. Purchase information is handled through Apple StoreKit and the App Store. Cephas receives product identifiers and entitlement status, but not your full payment card number.
If you email support, we receive the information you choose to include in that message, such as your email address, device details, screenshots, or the content of your request.
What Cephas Does Not Do
Cephas does not sell your personal information. Cephas does not use third-party advertising networks, does not track you across apps or websites, and does not use data brokers. Cephas does not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, or precise location.
The Map surfaces display historical places through Apple MapKit. Cephas uses Moment coordinates from its editorial database and does not request your current location.
How Information Is Used
Cephas uses the information it handles to provide app functionality: continuing your reading, syncing lightweight state across your Apple devices, remembering which free trials have been used, restoring purchases, honoring refunds or entitlement changes, responding to support requests, and maintaining the app.
Apple may provide developers with aggregated diagnostics or crash information when users have enabled those Apple settings. Cephas uses that kind of information, if available, only to diagnose problems and improve reliability.
Sharing and Third Parties
Cephas relies on Apple services for iCloud sync, StoreKit purchases, App Store refunds, Family Sharing where Apple makes it available, MapKit maps, and the iOS share sheet. Those services are governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policies.
When you use the iOS share sheet, you choose the destination. The information you share is then handled by the app, service, or person you selected. When you contact support by email, your email provider and our support mailbox provider process that message.
We may disclose information if required by law, to protect Cephas or users, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
App Store Privacy Information
The App Store may show a privacy summary for Cephas based on Apple’s required privacy disclosures. That summary is intended to describe the same practices explained in this Privacy Policy. If Cephas adds analytics, accounts, push notifications, a backend service, or third-party SDKs in the future, this policy and the App Store privacy information will need to be updated before those changes are released.
Retention and Choices
Reading progress and trial flags remain available until they are changed, deleted from your device or iCloud account, or otherwise removed through Apple settings. Purchase records are retained by Apple according to Apple’s App Store policies. Support emails are kept as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and maintain business records.
You can delete the app, manage iCloud for Cephas in device settings, manage purchases and refunds through your Apple ID, and use Restore Purchases in Settings. You may contact support@andromedarea.com to ask privacy questions or request assistance.
Children
Cephas is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact support@andromedarea.com so we can take appropriate action.
Security and Changes
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information handled by Cephas, but no app, device, or internet service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy as Cephas changes. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date and provide notice in the app or through another reasonable method.
